What is Glutathione?
One of the most important antioxidants in the body, Glutathione is present in every cell and low levels are associated with higher risks of several types of cancer. Conversely, when levels are high, cancer rates are low.
Nutritionally, there are several ways to increase glutathione levels.
- Vitamin C intake of at least 1000 mg daily on an empty stomach.
- N-acetyl cysteine which supplies one of the chief building blocks of glutathione, cysteine.
- Eating flavonoid rich foods which can raise glutathione levels in cells. Examples include such foods as broccoli, cauliflower, celery, turnips, collards, tomatoes, carrots, and most berries.
